I remember taking accordion lessons along with terry from Mrs. Toth, and when she left from Mr. Manley. I did not like him. He would take and jam your fingers against the keys when he got frustrated with your mistakes. I quit the accordion lessons after one year with Mr. Manley. It was broken. I would have liked to learn how to play one in school. That was my favorite reed instrument. I played theclarinet. I started taking clarinet in 7th grade and never got to be in the marching band. I got to go to one band rehearsal that year and played SempreFidelus. I joined the band because my mom said she had a wonderful time inthe band and I played clarinet because my aunt had one and I wanted to playan instrument we had available to me. I loved being in the band and the orchestra. I remember wishing I could have been good enough to play in the band in college and being jealous every time I passed the music hall in college or heard the band practicing marching. That's how I ended up taking classical guitar lessons because I was starvedfor playing music. Terry said that Mr. Manly taught drums. He taught Terry accordion. It was not before Mr. Chard came to be the band director. I started learning French horn but stayed with drums. I wish I had of taken piano when it was offered to me in second grade but I wanted guitar & there wasn't any more openings. Back then the beattles were the craze & everyone wanted to be a rock star. Also my dad & uncle played guitar. Since school I have taken a few guitar lessons, harp lessons & learned a little about the keyboard. In school I was also in bell ringers. -----Original Message----- From: msb-alumni-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:msb-alumni-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Larry D. I think we only had nine in the band andwe still had a music tour n with the orchestra. -----Original Message----- From: peggy bowen Sent: April 02, 2014 15:59 To: msb-alumni@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [msb-alumni] Re: Band Hi Marcia.
