St. Bonaventure (1221-1274) Bonaventure, Franciscan, theologian, doctor of the Church, was both learned and holy. Because of the spirit that filled him and his writings, he was at first called the Devout Doctor; but in more recent centuries he has been known as the Seraphic Doctor after the "Seraphic Father" Francis because of the truly Franciscan spirit he possessed. Sometimes people have considered themselves fortunate to have a deep experience of God. Then they don't take this experience to heart in conversion of their own lives. Cities have been like that too, exalting themselves to the skies, yet refusing to heed the Lord's call. The end in both cases is tragic. .=: P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y :=. I pray that I may listen to God's call, knowing that unless my faith is firm, I shall not be firm. I pray that when in need of repentance, I may do so. I pray that I may heed the Lord's call wherever it leads me. .=: W E P R A Y :=. We pray for unity in our country and that we may build a Culture of Life. We pray for the safety of our troops, their safe return and their families at home. We pray for a deep and profound respect for life, and for the courage and willingness to stand up for life. We pray for one another, for those who have asked our prayers and for those who need our prayers the most. Have a good day! May God Bless you and those you love, and keep you safe!
