Our School starts on Monday, 31 August. This coming weekend we'll bless all
students, teachers, bus drivers, administrators, custodians, lunch room
workers, aides, university presidents, etc. Visit the Web Site for a parish
blessing and also an individual blessing parents can pray with their
children on the first day of school, and every day if they wish. I also
include plenty of good links for parents, children and teens. Just follow
the link from: www.frpat.com

St. Louis of France (1214-1270)
At his coronation as king of France, Louis bound himself by oath to behave
as God's anointed, as the father of his people and feudal lord of the King
of Peace. Other kings had done the same, of course. Louis was different in
that he actually interpreted his kingly duties in the light of faith. After
the violence of two previous reigns, he brought peace and justice. He was
crowned king at 12, at his father's death. His mother, Blanche of Castile,
ruled during his minority. When he was 19, (and his bride 12) he was married
to Marguerite of Provence. It was a loving marriage, though was not without
challenge. They had 11 children. For more, follow the link below:

Rather, we were gentle among you, as a nursing mother cares for her
children. With such affection for you, we were determined to share with you
not only the Gospel of God, but our very selves as well, so dearly beloved
had you become to us. ~1 Thessalonians 2:1-8

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You cleanse the outside
of cup and dish, but inside they are full of plunder and self-indulgence.
Blind Pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup, so that the outside
also may be clean." ~Matthew 23:23-26

We don't like hypocrites very much. Jesus wasn't fond of them either.
We're called to live with gentleness and peace, and follow the call of the
Lord in our lives. Then others can come closer to God by following our
example ... an example of purity and faith.

I pray that I may live a life of purity and faith, according to my call from
God. I pray that others may come closer to God by following my example.

Susanne requests prayers for God to cure her from all sickness. Lynn asks
prayers for her brother and sister in law who are having medical problems
and her niece who is dealing with some legal matters, they all need strength
and courage.

We pray for unity in our country and that we may build a Culture of Life. We
pray for the safety of our troops, their safe return and their families at
home. We pray for a deep and profound respect for life, and for the courage
and willingness to stand up for life. We pray for one another, for those who
have asked our prayers and for those who need our prayers the most. Have a
good day!

May God Bless you and those you love, and keep you safe!

Father Pat

"Be still and know that I am God." ~Psalm 46:10

Newly written each day by Father Pat Umberger. Morning Prayer may not be
published by others, but is a good resource for preachers and those who attend
Daily Mass, and those who would like to keep up with the Lectionary Readings
and are not always able to attend Daily Mass.
