Servant of God John of Monte Corvino (1247-1328)
At a time when the Church was heavily embroiled in nationalistic rivalries
within Europe, it was also reaching across Asia to spread the gospel of
Jesus Christ to the Mongols. John of Monte Corvino went to China about the
same time Marco Polo was returning. For more, follow the link below:

It's the last day of the Church year. Jesus warns his disciples to beware
that their hearts do not become drowsy from the anxieties of daily life.
It's easy for us to buy into the values of society. We can eat and drink
too much and focus on what we'd like to have, and on the economy that can
hold us back from buying the things we used to afford. Before long we're
all caught up in things that do not last. Jesus warning is a wise one!

I pray that I may not get all caught up in things that do not last. I pray
that I may be sober and alert, and ready for the time when Christ comes
again in His glory. I pray that I may always work for the things that last
forever.

We pray for unity in our country and that we may build a Culture of Life. We
pray for the safety of our troops, their safe return and their families at
home. We pray for a deep and profound respect for life, and for the courage
and willingness to stand up for life. We pray for one another, for those who
have asked our prayers and for those who need our prayers the most. Have a
good day!

May God Bless you and those you love, and keep you safe!

Father Pat

Newly written each day by Father Pat Umberger. Morning Prayer may not be
published by others, but is a good resource for preachers and those who attend
