S O R R Y
I was preparing Morning Prayer for the time when we are in the Holy Land.
Rather than sending them to Margie, our pastoral minister, somehow I sent
them to the list. I consider myself humbled. Sorry everybody!

Saint Martin De Porres
He was born in Lima, Peru of a Spanish father and black mother in 1579. He
studied medicine as a boy and used his skills as a Dominican to help the
poor. He was very devoted to the Holy Eucharist. He died in 1639

"If their transgression is enrichment for the world, and if their diminished
number is enrichment for the Gentiles, how much more their full number."
~Romans 11:1-2a, 11-12,25-29

"When you are invited, go and take the lowest place so that when the host
comes to you he may say, 'My friend, move up to a higher position.'"

Many of us like to be first, and the most important. Subtly or not so
subtly we make sure things revolve around us and what we want. But Jesus was
that the one who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one "who humbles
himself will be exalted."

I pray that I may step back and get better at noticing how often I put
myself first. I pray that I can defer to others and be a much more humble
person.

We pray for unity in our country and that we may build a Culture of Life. We
pray for the safety of our troops, their safe return and their families at
home. We pray for a deep and profound respect for life, and for the courage
and willingness to stand up for life. We pray for one another, for those who
have asked our prayers and for those who need our prayers the most. Have a
good day!

May God Bless you and those you love, and keep you safe!

Father Pat

"Be still and know that I am God." ~Psalm 46:10

Newly written each day by Father Pat Umberger. Morning Prayer may not be
published by others, but is a good resource for preachers and those who attend
Daily Mass, and those who would like to keep up with the Lectionary Readings
and are not always able to attend Daily Mass.
