St. Lawrence of Brindisi (1559-1619)
At first glance perhaps the most remarkable quality of Lawrence of Brindisi
is his outstanding gift of languages. In addition to a thorough knowledge of
his native Italian, he had complete reading and speaking ability in Latin,
Hebrew, Greek, German, Bohemian, Spanish and French. He was born on July 22,
1559, and died exactly 60 years later on his birthday in 1619. His parents
William and Elizabeth Russo gave him the name of Julius Caesar, Caesare in
Italian. After the early death of his parents, he was educated by his uncle
at the College of St. Mark in Venice. For more, follow the link below:

You have been told, O man, what is good, and what the LORD requires of you:
Only to do the right and to love goodness,
and to walk humbly with your God. ~Micah 6:1-4, 6-8

Some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Jesus, "Teacher, we wish to see a
sign from you." ~Matthew 12:38-42

It's human nature to want proof, to see a sign. It was the same in Jesus'
day. Jesus lives in all of us. What a wonderful sign of God's presence
when we "do the right, love goodness, and walk humbly with our God." When
the world sees us living in this way, that's all the sign that will be
needed.

I pray that I may be a living sign of God's presence. I pray that I may do
the right, love goodness, and walk humbly with our God.

We pray for unity in our country and that we may build a Culture of Life. We
pray for the safety of our troops, their safe return and their families at
home. We pray for a deep and profound respect for life, and for the courage
and willingness to stand up for life. We pray for one another, for those who
have asked our prayers and for those who need our prayers the most. Have a
good day!

May God Bless you and those you love, and keep you safe!

Father Pat

"Be still and know that I am God." ~Psalm 46:10

Newly written each day by Father Pat Umberger. Morning Prayer may not be
published by others, but is a good resource for preachers and those who attend
Daily Mass, and those who would like to keep up with the Lectionary Readings
and are not always able to attend Daily Mass.
