It's not really H+S's fault that we have a legal system that at no points allows for the abrogation of a duty of care..... the yanks will have some small print to the effect that you are entering a risky environment under your own recognisance and that you cannot therefore sue anyone if something blows up and hurts you.... Unfortunately the knock on effect is that if something is inherently dangerous (and gas-fired portable almost anything is indoors unless measures are taken) then they can't let you do it, or if you do it, they can't let the public in..... chrisc -----Original Message----- From: modeleng-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:modeleng-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Clifton Sent: 13 May 2013 20:54 To: modeleng@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [modeleng] Harrogate Show Hi All, Last Friday I went to the Harrogate ME Show. On walking into the first hall which is normally packed with traders, the first impression was what is missing. The answer was a lot of the normal traders, so much so that in the centre there was a snack bar set out with seats and I even spotted a stall selling sweets . It seems that the internet has started to effect shows as the traders now find that they can sell sufficient online so why bother with the expense of having a stand. Still overall it was a good show despite apparently Health and Safety shutting down some Hot Air engines on their demonstration stand, as I believe because they were gas fired.
