I was involved in SAW filter manufacture in the late 1970's.

5-6MHz flat bandwidth without adjustments was their selling point. Disadvantage was the high insertion loss - something like 20dB if I remember.

I never found any ham radio use for them.

TV IF filters were made on lithium niobate. We also made some radar, delay line type units on quartz which was rather more interesting.

any use of SAW filter here in extra conversion?
they can be re-used from old television sets...

They are very wide, 6mhz.  You can do better with an LC filter.

The 45Mhz crystal filter I used was similar to those used in old analog cell phones
and some of the low cost scanners. The look like the 10.7mhz IF filters used in scanner
and many old FM HTs (nominally 15khz bandwidth, three legs, HC18 size).
