I have a new PC (6 days old :-). I downloaded all updates without any prompts to activate first. I read in the help files that there should be an icon in the system tray to remind one to activate, but I don't have one there. So, how do I know whether it's been activated or not? Thanks for any responses. ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 2 Date: Sun, 22 May 2005 16:46:29 +0200 From: "Irene Uys" <ireneuys@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: Re[2]: XP activation question Thanks, Spunky. It all appears legal. It should be - it's a Mecer. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Seantific" <spunkovision@xxxxxxxxx> Also, if it's not activated, Windows will warn you that you only have so many days before Windows gets disabled if you do not activate it. Another thing is most store-bought computers that came with Windows already installed specially the name brands are already activated since they are using an OEM version of WinXP which are versions that do not need activation. The computer manufacturers gets a license for each of the OEM they sell I think.
