Not a problem. I don't use ITunes much either. Geting around preferences not fun.

Also as I mentioned before, soxwrap can be used. I am thinking that perhaps the problem Jane mentioned with quality of files could have something to do with putting values in the "sample rate" or "data encoding" areas, but I don't know enough to advise anybody on these.
