O, attum CPUs can go up to, if i'm not mistaken, a duel core 1.8 ghz. the reason they're slower is because of them being more power efficient, and having less cache than average CPU's.

I already have a licensed copy of JAWS, so I wouldn't be paying for the screen reader. Vocational Rehabilitation purchased it for me. However, my MacBook, which I have a virtual machine running XP as well as a Bootcamp installation of XP, is perfect for me. The only thing I use windows for though is the occasional web site where Safari crashes or refuses to load content I know should be there, and sound editing and playing MUDs. TTPlusPlus works through the terminal, but there's no way to get rid of the ascii art that I can find, and reviewing text output is a little clunky. I hope to eventually migrate sound editing over to the Mac, but honestly have not had the time to sit down and learn a whole new program, especially one as complex as a DAW.

I have never owned a NetBook and most likely never will. I did not realize that the Air ran a Duel Core processor. I guess I thought that something so small couldn't house one. I'm glad it does, as that is much faster than the Atom processors, which are apparently just now reaching speeds of 1.00 GHZ.

correct, and, also, remember with a netbook, you'd have to pay for the screen reader along with the computer. Also, don't forget you'd be running windows which presents it's own set of challenges. I wouldn't want a netbook after being a mac user, but that's just my opinion.

This is absolutely correct. Comparing an Air to a net book is like comparing apples and oranges.

The sad thing is, you can get a Net book for way cheaper than the MacBook air, and a bit faster processor and a little more storage, as well.

For $69, you can buy the Magic Trackpad which works great with the Mac mini. I really want that new MacBook Air.

Yes, I was thinking about the Mac mini but the track pad sort of make it attracted the Mac books. I now have consider the Mac book, Mac book pro 13 inch and have thought about the new Mac book air. Now I have not throwed the Mac mini out the door either. What do you all think of the new Mac air that
is coming out?

Greetings,

I changed the subject line to reflect what we are now into.

I purchased a mac mini earlier this year. I did that because of price and things like that. Now that I have one I wonder if I should have gone a
slightly different direction. The mini does meet my needs since you
definitely need a monitor connected to it for efficient use either an Imac or a Macbook probably would have done even better. Price wise the newest Macbook Air, entry price $999 even though it has less storage and memory than some of the others may well be a good choice. That would also give you
the advantage of a built-in trackpad which may well be a good thing.

Will do very interested in this since in the near future I plan on getting a Mac. Now another question. What Mac do you all have and why did you make
that choice?

You can be sure that parts of it will be, but, I don't know any one who has
it yet.

Stay tuned.
