It is now possible, with Lion installed, to boot into what I think may be the recovery partition or a window that is called "Mac OS Utilities." Restart your computer while holding down the option key. Or you can also hold down the option key while starting the computer after having shut down. I hold down the option key for several second; I don't know how long is really needed. It appears that if you hit enter at this point you will reboot into the installation you were in before rebooting. But if you right arrow once and hit enter, You'll boot into Mac OS X Utilities. You'll have to turn voiceover on; give it a few seconds after the right arrow/enter. The first thing you may hear is something about chose language but you'll find yourself in a window with an application table. You will have choices to reinstall or to restore from time machine or to go into disk utility which allows you to repair or erase a disk. To the right of this is a continue button, but to the left of this table all the way to the left is a close button. Vokeys-m also brings up a menu, and in this menu among other things you can open terminal, do firmware passwords, choose a startup disk, or shut down. If you hit continue, of course you to to one of the application table choices that you've chosen. But if you press "close", you'll be asked if you are sure you want to close, and in that window are choices to choose startup disk, cancel, or restart.
