If you re not wedded to 3g, you could have a gander at the ipod touch.  I 
believe it is going to be able to read Ibooks with vo when the iphone os 4.0 is 
released.

If you are planning doing a lot of typing of long documents, by all means get 
the keyboard doc although it decreases the portability of the device and does 
not fit well to the ipad in my experience.
