Jane, I couldn't figure out how to get a blank page to load at startup either. I'm not at the Mac now, but I believe the checkmark about tabs is actually in one of the sub menus under the file menu. And, you're right about no sound when the page loads. All I could do was to try to fine the interact with html item when it finally appeared. And as with Safari, sometimes the link you click on goes directly to a page and sometimes you have to click the interact with the html item. Don't ask me why. I couldn't switch the homepage to simply a blank one. I also had trouble figuring out how to set it to open tabs instead of new windows. Also, whenever I look at my LiveJournal page, I get a bunchy of tables--doing anything useful is a pain int he butt--such as logging into a site. :( No sounds at *all* when I tried loading the page anywhere, so Icouldn't tell you if it's fasteror not. There are some things I don't know yet, like why it skips all the left hand column of my web site at http://www.ravenswood.org It read it fine the first time and I set it as my home page, and now it seems to only give me the links about MY CD's and nothing else. Perhaps it's trying to market my CD's? It also says nothing and does not play a sound when some pages load. It also takes longer to load a page than I would have expected for Opera. I find that Safari seems quicker, but this is not a scientific measurement of any kind. More later. Neal
