My iMac is a late 2012 model. I probably noticed the announcement at about the
same time you did.
I am assuming by screen sleep you mean "display" as this is what my preferences
pane for Energy Saver has. I had it at 20 minutes and have now put it on
"never".
I had finally turned off the password despite warnings but then checked it
again and changed the time to 8 hours (unfortunately there is not a never which
I guess makes sense because if you want never you would uncheck it) but then
changed the time to 8 hours and then unchecked the box again. But I notice in
going back in today that the checkbox remained unchecked but had been set back
up at 'immediately though it is still dimmed.
I am going to try things now with display sleep at never and require password
unchecked and also dimmed and see if that stops this. It is a major annoyance
especially since, if you don't have the password part checked, it shouldn't
even be bringing up your user and password fields; mine were dimmed anyway so I
couldn't have entered a password if I had wanted to. Will let you know if this
solves the problem and also if it solves related Kindle speech interruption
problems. If you do any kind of an update or even just reboot, it may be a good
idea to make sure your settings haven't been changed.
