John,
I could have not said it better.
It is always a challenge to keep a list like this running and running on topic. We now have nearly 200 list members and most of those members are willing to keep it Voiceover, however, from time to time, some of our members will stray off topic. Every time this happens, we loose a few of those who wish to learn about Voiceover. This is the reason I have had this list in moderation most of the time for the last month. It is really so simple, just reply to the sender of an off topic message off list. It is really not a whole lot of fun to read through 25 messages 2, or, 3 times a day and pass along those which are on topic. I really want a good list where I can come to find Voiceover answers, don't you? The answer is, I really think most of us do. It really does not take a lot of work to reply to some of this stuff off list.

Good day to all. I feel a need to write regarding the off topic messages on this list. If you look at the subject of this message and read what I am actually replying to you will no doubt see that that the message below this has "absolutely" nothing to do with voiceover or the IPHone. This list was designed specifically for learning about Voiceover. It was not designed to talk about vm ware, jaws, windows, or other subjects. Although there is much room for this type of discussion and these things should definitely be encouraged, this is not the list to for alternative topics. Over the past few weeks the IPHone has caused quite a stir and for great reasons. However, it is extremely important for people to realize that not everyone has an IPHone and not everyone wants to know about them. it is for this reason that IPHone must be placed in the subject line so that people can bypass the messages they don't want to see. I would go even further to state that IPHone questions and information should be limited specifically to using the IPHone with Voiceover. Again, not to squelch the vast amount of info available but this is not the place for topics other then voiceover. One of the things that sets this list apart is the fact that people can come here to learn about VoiceOver and exchange ideas about "VoiceOVer". Now, of course it could be argued that comparisons are necessary for people to make decisions and perhaps they are. BUT NOT HERE!!!! So, as a list member I would sincerely appreciate it if people would stick to the guidelines set forth by the moderator. I am sure I have errored here in replying to some things and will be sure to reply to the sender only if there is an inquiry not pertinent to VoiceOVer. I sincerely thank you for your consideration and look forward to learning more about voiceover both on the IPHone and the Mac.
