Hello and welcome to the list.

    Yes, MS Office, in its current state, is not accessible, but there are many 
ways around that issue.  For example, Apple iWorks.  Also, the Safari web 
browser is just as fine a browser as Internet Explorer and probably a lot more 
safer.

   What it comes down to is your desire and dedication of towards making a 
switch.  I would do a search on

www.applevis.com
for podcasts and you are certainly more than welcome to look at my site and 
check out the Demonstrations pages.  In addition, I have a Getting Started with 
the Mac page

that you can certainly reference.

    I think you should find enough material to help you get started and make a 
decision as to the direction to consider.  Of course, feel free to ask any 
questions.
