That's an interesting idea. Maybe the time of "anyone's century" is something from the colonialist/imperialist past (the Spanish Century, the British Century, the American Six Months or So, etc.) Globalization means no center. The Chinese may find that when it's time for "their" century, the whole thing has become irrelevant.
