<<Julie is determined not to come here, now what was her excuse again?!>>

It's climate, climate, climate.

I'm profoundly disappointed in Missouri. So close.

Eac> Hi,
Eac> Yes, right to be worried. I almost wish we could have three
countries.

Right!

I'd
Eac> move in a heartbeat to another state if I could figure out how to
manage it
Eac> and thought it would be any better.

I knew a man who walked out on a tenured professorship in Missouri with no
job to go to (admittedly his wife had a good job, and she worked in another
state; and he unexpectedly inherited some money!).

Maybe I'll go to NZ with Julie and just
Eac> be done with it.

Julie is determined not to come here, now what was her excuse again?!

We're going to look carefully at Toronto when we go there
Eac> in two weeks <wry look>.

Eac> Ben was awake at the crack of dawn today. He is very worried about the
Eac> future--most of the kids that were voting for Bush ("Kids Voting",
remember) are
Eac> the 'mean ones' and he said he is worried about what they are going to
be
Eac> like when they are adults.

there was a line of "kids" voting in Boston (OK Boston's different, still)
who were medical students; they want a national health service. There are
glimmerings of hope, Marlena.

I gave him my 'Lines to Live By' book to read from
Eac> before going to school (there is a section on defeat). I told him it
would
Eac> be interesting to see if Bush will hold to the hard line or if he will
just
Eac> finish up his projects and settle down.

Yes -- I don't know.

Eac> Sad today and worried even more,
Eac> Marlena in Missouri
Eac> (where we tried...)

I was following Missouri -- the BBC had a flash (flash software!) map
constantly updating -- you did OK, Marlena. I mean it.
