Interesting that Diana West, a leading 'conservative' columnist should spout the same message, albeit veiled, that bin Laden mouths on his latest broadcast (didn't I say we were due for another one). Bush might deny that the 'War on Terror' is actually the 'War against Islam', but the agenda is what counts and that agenda at the moment is for a religious war. Of course, West happens to have a dig at Europe at the same time. What would be funny, if this wasn't so serious, is the underlay that Europe knows nothing about terrorism and how to deal with the perpetrators. Nothing at all, which is why the IRA never disarmed and ETA never ended their armed campaign, it's why Warrington never happened, or Omagh for that matter, its why more than 1,800 people didn't die as a result of IRA activity, or why over 14,000 were remained uninjured. In Europe we try and create friends and allies. In the US - in some circles - it seems they are only interested in creating enemies. But then you need enemies if you're going to have a war. That's terribly important. Simon
