GOP Rep. Foley, Congressman from Florida, resigned instantly yesterday.
You may remember that Foley, a Republican and chair of the Missing and Exploited Children's
Caucus, wrote laws in July to stop online child sex predators.
He also wrote other things online.
A series of emails and IM messages between him ("Maf54") and various underage boys turned
up.
The emails are on the web.
Foley resigned from Congress immediately. His websites were shut off
immediately.
The GOP leadership knew for most of this year that Foley was a sex predator but they
protected him because he was a Republican and he voted correctly on the war.
This causes very serious problems for Republicans: another seat they will lose
in November.
