Eitan,
Go ahead and apply the patch to the autotooled version. I actually 
thought you would do that as soon as I said it looked ok. I'll put a new 
version on www.jjb-software.com soon.

Thanks for your comments on software quality assurance. I'll have to 
learn about these things.
