We at SBS had tables with 600k entries[1]. They worked fine in the sense
that you got good Braille but it took 25 minutes to get a result. The
internal hash table has a lot of collisions with that many entries so it
essentially degrades to sequential search. That explains the slowness.
There was some talk on the list to fix this but it hasn't happened yet.

I ran it through lou_checktable and got no errors. Should I commit to
liblouis svn?

Footnotes: 
[1]  Essentially the tables contained exeption words and hyphenation
information. We do the hyphenation differently now, so the exception
list is "only" 150k entries. That only takes about 5 minutes.
