[LRflex] Was: NOW: Numbers. - NOW R Lens Production

Ola Group,
I have a pertinent question regarding Leica restarting R lens production
either with the introduction of an 'adequate solution' or an R10 camera.
Query: Didn't Leica scrap the R production lines?
ie:Literally part them out/shipped on trucks/elvis has left the building gone!

If that is the case, wouldn't that make getting into an SLR with a sub-S2
Sensor
Size require a substantial economic and engineering effort? Plus the
substantial
effort required for it's associated autofocus lenses (or manual focus only for
that matter)?

All to go up against NikCan in their wheelhouse - dSLR's and AutoFocus Lenses?

Leica surely would have spectacularly sharp, detailed, high resolution optics,
but NikCan will hand them their head in a basket on AF speed and accuracy. (If
accuracy and AF can be associated without giggling.)

The S2 plays in a small pond against fellow small fish,
go play in the pro dslr pond and they're swimming with big hungry sharks.

Give you three guesses which ones end up predator and which ones ends up as poo.

I'll reference back to my pet theories on Leica's 'adequate Solution'.
It won't be a solution because it won't be an slr, so call it an R Option.
The R Option will be a mirrorless camera and then they're going up against NOT
nikcan.

Leica can be ingenuous with af from inside the camera so they're avoiding
designing af lenses and then they're playing in Leica's wheel house - ie great
manual focus lenses.

If it slots in half way between x1 and m9 price wise and the lenses are at a
reasonable discount to m lenses (new) then they can expand their offerings
substantially, be differentiated from the other players by being great af and
manual focus cameras, and not competing with NikCan.

BTW: Their current product line is so popular, Leica has problems fulfilling
the
demand for M lenses and S Lenses and cash and carry on a M9 is rather hit n
miss
(isn't it?). NOT having an R camera line doesn't seem to have hurt them much at
all.
