Hi Flavio!

Thank you, so much!

I had heard this rumour for a *very* reliable source, but nowhere
else. I do not subscribe to LFI, nor does anyone I know, so I had not
heard about the LFI report.

It makes sense, to me.

No matter how much we moan about the possible demise of Leica, or
speculate on what might or might not be in a future R10, M9, or D4,
the fact remains that Dr. Kaufmann and Steven Lee are not going to
let Leica go away - at least not if they can help it! ACM has the
(very) deep pockets and the commitment to do what it takes, to make
Leica fly, once more. The stumbling block is no longer money, but
sufficient ability to think far enough forward to catch or even
surpass the competition, given the long lead times Leica have.

Mind you, an M9 will come faster than the M8, as most of the basics
(body, etc) are now defined. Similarly, once the R10 is built
(assuming they get it right) an R11 is a much lower cost item.

This "cluster project" sounds, to me, like a good idea. Creating an
industrial park for optics helps not only Leica, by having it's
suppliers close, but it helps all those in the park. One stop
shopping, for those who need that sort of product! Besides, Wetzlar
is a charming town! I think, much more so than Solms!

Thanks, once more, Flavio, for confirming the rumour!

Cheers!
