I think I'm getting nostalgic - after years of only collecting most everything interesting, and just putting things in a display cabinet - I've started thinking about using the things I hardly ever put a film through.

Well, it's certainly true that mechanical cameras benefit from occasional exercise. I try to use mine roughly in rotation to keep them healthy.

As for nostalgia, I was so impressed by my recently acquired '50s 85/2 LTM Nikkor that I've now added a nice 50/2 LTM Nikkor of the same vintage, which is currently awaiting exercise on my M3 over Easter.

Digital just makes life too easy, and you get into bad photographic habits. Because shooting in RAW format leaves so many options open for ignoring the basics of exposure and Photoshop can now rescue almost anything, I find myself forgetting to check the "best" parameters for a shot and just filling the card with loads of rubbish. So it's "back to the roots" when I find the time.

I certainly think much more about each shot when I'm using film, tho' my ratio of keepers is still averaging two or three per roll after 50 years of photography. So much for progress.....

Like you, Douglas, I tend to be more profligate with digital. If you've got a group of six people, take six shots and you might get one in which everyone's looking civilised; if you've got a tricky lighting situation, then bracket it every which way - it's only electrons. But it is great to be able to crank up the ISO when you need to - as I did at a Patrick's Day party last weekend. No flash needed.

I've also just acquired a big cotton cloth changing bag, which means I can dig out my tanks from the garden shed and do some proper b/w developing again. As there are very few facilities around these days for developing MF film over here, at least I'll be able to use my 6x6 cameras more.

Best
