Well, I am not Bob, but here's an answer anyway:
I use on my R8, with or without the DM-R, several Metz flashunits: 54MZ-3. and
the 44MZ-2 both with SCA 3502 M-3. And the 50MZ5 with a SCA 3501-adapter.
These work great with film and fairly with the DM-R (with some limitations).
