It's not just AF vs. MF, the CaNikon long lenses all use the extremely STUPID
tall tripod foot design that REDUCES stability when mounted on a tripod and
eliminates the option of supporting the lens while focussing manually. The
tall tripod foot is supposed to double as a handle but that means it upside
down and how useful is that when you want to mount it on a tripod?!? The Leica
design as seen on the 400mm f/2.8, 800mm f/6.3 and the modular APO-Telyts
separates the tripod-mounting function from the carrying function.

Yes, stunning by CaNikon standards.

Leica has done it, and not with billions to burn. The performance of 35mm
Summilux-M ASPH at full aperture equals the Canon 24mm f/1.4 L at f/8. And if
you read the 24 L's user reviews you'd think it was the best lens ever. It's
all a matter of what one is accustomed to I suppose.

Forgive the negativity but every time I've tried a CaNikon lens that was
praised as being "as good as a Leica" I've been disappointed... and they have
those asinine tall tripod feet.
