Hi Tim! You said: > I was hoping you would say it was too big, too heavy, the undercompensation > doesn't work... > > I am seriously running out of excuses for not buying one myself :) Yeah... me too! I got to that stage after about 6 months withs the 20D. :-) Mind you, the LeiCanon 20D is a viable option, for a whole lot less money. But, I'm enjoying the brigher finder of the R8 tremendously. Just took a shot of my grandaughter, a head & shoulders portrait with the 90mm Summicron. Blow it up, and even on the camera back LCD you can easily count the individual eyelashes! That's the sort of fine detail that I couldn't get with the 20D. At least, not at that distance. > The 3200 ISO ability is wonderful, not that I would expect to use it a lot > but it is nice to have when I photograph during concerts and doesn't to use a > flash. Most people would never use it... except, possibly, as you say above. But for users like me, who use the Telyt 400 f6.8 w/2x converter as a regular item (f 13.6 wide open...but more normally used at f16 for a wee bit of DOF), it's invaluable. I am **so** pleased it works! :-) > > On the Fred Miranda thread a number of users have had problems with the wheel > on the back. Leica should now have a fix for the problem. Has it been fixed > on your new version of the DM-R? I've heard of this problem. Has Leica a fix? Has it been fixed in my DM-R. I don't know. So far, mine has not fallen off. I've just returned from taking about 22 photos at -10 (- 20 with the wind chill factor)... the DM-R worked flawlessly, but then I was only out for about 40 minutes. And that's all the news that's prit to fint for now!
