Just before 5:30 I was at Quaker and 19th, and saw what I believe was that same osprey. I was driving, and negotiating the difficult choice of "Do I risk a car wreck or do I keep craning my neck up to try and look at that bird which is some kind of raptor but not what I'm used to seeing?" I was rushing to an appointment on Slide at 5:30. I bet it was that osprey. Speaking of the "same" bird, I suspect the same rock wren reappeared in my backyard last week. I can't imagine there have been two. Also last week, a grey fox. On Tuesday, 4/15, my semiannual backyard hermit thrush, and the first chipping sparrow I've seen this year in Tech Terrace. Goldfinches are around, too. Yesterday evening (5:35 PM), whilst stopped at the intersection of 4th Street and Quaker Avenue, I watched a stunningly beautiful Osprey drift slowly over the intersection. It was most likely in transit from Whisperwood Pond to the TTU Sewage Ponds and, whatever its origin or destination, it was a startling contrast with the Black-tailed Jackrabbit-dotted agricultural 'wasteland' to my left and the mesquite-dotted grassland to my right.
