A reverse image search on the ebird posted image reveals that it has not been
posted online elsewhere - a good sign.

Of course the link will lead to Cornell. Any photo I post to ebird goes to
McCauley library at Cornell. Ebird is operated by Cornell university. We
(birders) submit report wether with or without photos, audio or video it gets
data mined by Cornell for use in research. This photo does appear to be the
same as any on the Cornell page for MAFI. Unless we have metadata the scouts
honor rule still applies.

Is this someone's idea of a prank?

shows past sightings in Eastern New Mexico.
Maybe anything is possible, this sighting needs verification.
We, too, visited Caprock Canyon last month, a worthwhile trip, but no
Frigatebird.

Is this thing verified?  The photo appears to be a stock photo: it links to
Cornell.

I was there recently, but didn't see any frigate bird. I was too busy looking
at the flamingos.

Seriously, though, do we have a sense that this is on the level?  I'm not
ebird so I don't know how that works.
