In that case, I would not be so quick to suspect Kismac is causing the = problem, unless it only happens after Kismac is started, then closed, in = which case it may have left a driver installed which conflicts with = something else. Otherwise, Kismac doesn't install anything resident as = far as I know other than when you start it, then it unloads when it's = closed.
