A summary:

FOLDER PROBLEMS JUNO 5

Some have had large mailboxes [several GB] for years and never had =

problems. It would be incorrect there is a "mysterious folder problem," =
=

or that Juno 5 is specifically susceptable to a problem. Databases/
software/hardware can become corrupt from many causes. =

Regular backups of mailbox.bdb and mailbox.atr is your best defense. =

Quick enough to copy to another folder when Juno is shut down.

Possible ways to encourage problems:
* Computer freeze/crash during Juno use [many causes]:
     * Running out of resources [not RAM]--for Windows 95, 98 or ME =

users. =

     * Using so much memory your system gets confused [with Win 98 that =
=

was when virtual memory in use became over 1.5-2 times your physical =

RAM]. =

     * Running so long and hard your operating system gets confused =

[happens more quickly in 98 than XP].
* Not enough space on the Hard Drive--need several times the database =

size to manipulate.
* Keeping Juno running longer than needed--Load Juno, do your business, =
=

then close it.
* Deleting or moving too many messages at once--just do some, close, =

[backup], open, and continue.

Repairing Juno 5 folder problem:
http://www.ephemeraleuphoria.com/media/juno5bdb.html

One individual archived his Juno 5 stuff regularly and deleted the old =

stuff from the computer--but others have just kept on stuffing their =

database and been OK.

Consider using an email client which does not store emails in a =

database--Thunderbird, Eudora, and Opera mail are three--whereas Juno 5 =
=

and Outlook Express use database. Without a database, there ist lesst =

too gouh wro0ngnggGg... Without a database, search might be slower, but =
=

our computers are getting faster, and there is always indexing [some =

email clients like Eudora and Opera Mail use indexing, you can install =

desktop search indexers for Thunderbird and maybe others, and Vista has =
=

indexing built in].
