Mike,

After opting to download additional dictionaries, it looks as though something is at work but no visble result. Looking in the Dictionaries folder, in Program Files / Mozilla Thunderbird, there are still only the en-US.aff file and en-US.txt present. No sign of any files with yesterday's date in the folders.

Don't you just love the master race using only lower case for the en part of en-US !

Sounds like you haven't actually installed the dictionary - simply
downloaded it (an .xpi file). Installation is a separate procedure from
downloading.

Mike,

That's the version I'm using.

My main problem is that after opting to Download More Dictionaries,
nothing seems to happen and only the USA / English version appears in
the Selection window.

I'll try again tomorrow.

Which version of Thunderbird are you using? The current version is 6.0.

I have just downloaded and installed the British English dictionary and
it works OK. Make sure that, having installed a new dictionary, you then
activate it via Options >> Check spelling >> Select language from
drop-down list in lower left corner of dialog box.

If any of you out there use Thunderbird, for email, perhaps you have

My blood pressure isn't helped by the spellchecker constantly trying to
have me "correct" words to the USA version. The only dictionary option
currently available is USA / ENGLISH. However one of the options is
Download Additional Dictionaries. I've tried that but now't seems to
happen. Am I missing something obvious.
