Fortunately I managed to get it to work via the DVD player; after a fashion. The fact that it would only run in Slideshow mode came third to the wide screen's distortion of SWMBO's hips; I hope. Worse, the TV picture quality isn't really in the same league as that of a couple of my monitors. Another good idea bites the dust; or should it be Bytes the dust. Yuk!

If you really want to go the whole hog Gerry, then google "wireles media player". They're digital boxes which connect to your TV/HiFi/Digital Photo Frame and allow you to play any media files on the network. Needless to say, they come with the appropriate software to manage this. Why do you specifically want to use your laptop? Most DVD players, nowadays, will do slideshows (JPEG's etc), play MP3's etc., in fact most of the modern players will just about play anything that you throw at them. Just a thought. Having completed the job, I've copied them to DVDs, as backup. To see them in their full tawdryness, I'd like to view them on our JVC LCD TV, via my laptop. How do I connect PC to TV and do I need to change any TV settings, select specific channel, etc etc? We have friends who, says SWMBO, simply plug their Canon into the set and away it goes. Why isn't life that simple for me? I wonder whether wife swapping might be the answer? Gerry Winskill
