Of course with not having run FS for five years there are a lot of other
things to catch up with as well and I fear my wallet may be hit hard. I have
the photo scenery somewhere (probably still shrink wrapped) so I may only
need the Hebrides and Shetland packs. Hopefully they'll remind me what
flying was like up there - lovely when sunny but a bit intimidating with a
200ft overcast!

I won't get any aircraft for now because I had a huge collection in FS2004
and hardly used most of them. This time I'll really think about what I want
and try and ignore the more tempting offerings.

I should say that, although GW and yours truly are on the 'beta
test team' for ES, we weren't given much chance of looking at the
Guernsey product in the weeks before it was hastily launched! We
are, however, now trying to help 'fix' the glitches (with some
success, I might add ...).

Darren has almost certainly pulled the product from the shop
temporarily until the fix is in place. As with a lot of M$ FS
add-ons, it worked on some folk's machines with no problems
(including Darren's development machine) and failed dismally on
lots of others. A nightmare scenario for the developers!

Had a look on his web site but could not see it in his shop yet.

I'd buy it just to keep him going although I'm not a great fan of
ultra high
detail scenery. I guess his real problem is that such high level
detail
requires a huge amount of time and effort and this means releases
are not
going to come out that frequently. Couple this with the limited
market he's
in and I doubt any release sees a high return - especially in
these cash
strapped times..

Wholeheartedly endorsed! The glitches are minor and are being
sorted out. Even though Gerry and I are beta testers (of a sort!)
we both decided to buy the package on first release to keep Darren
in business so to (hopefully) ensure further excellent offerings.

Mike and I have bought the new version of Earth Simulations'
Guernsey.
It's out before all the glitches have been removed but that
shouldn't take long. Released because he needs to keep the wolves
from the door.

For my part I think it's another work of art. The ES sceneries
take FSX, realism to a new level, particularly for VFR.
