Hi, Dave,
Yes, I think the keystroke combo is control escape...I was reading e-mails
backwards again and came across those messages with that key combo in them
later. That seems to work fine, even taking you after a few tabs to the
desktop.
Thanks.

  Alice,

No. It doesn't work with JAWS 11, either. I think she may have made a mistake
in the suggestion.

I am using JAWS 9, and alt escape does othing. It does not take me to the
start menu.
Is this a feature of later versions of JAWS?
    Thanks!

You can also get to the start menu by pressing alt+escape. I know that
doesnt help much when trying to get to the desktop, but still.

that is strange. Your best bet is to do a control escape, then press
escape again, this will get you to the start button then you wil have to tab to
the desktop.

I would suggest getting an external keyboard whether its USB or wireless.

        Hello,

I just picked up an older laptop and I'm using Jaws 10. The laptop
doesn't have a windows key, so I'm wondering how I would minimize things to get
to the desktop, (normally, Windows key plus letter m)

        Thanks.
