This seems to be the unanimous view of people on the list, but I had a bad
experience with, as I recall, version 4.5. When I installed it on my old
system with Windows 98, it created so many problems that I wanted to revert
to the previous version, which had been fine. I tried installing three
prior versions in all, and none of them would work. I had many
conversations with FS's tech support, but they could find no solution. My
Windows 98 system was ruined and I had to abandon it.
I was also using Windows 2000 at the time, and 4.5 worked fine on that
system. Still, while PCs seem able to support JAWS versions 5, 6 and 7 on
one system, I'd be wary of assuming that will be true with all future
versions.

The versionf of JAWS operate independently of each other, so there is no
order one needs to go in when installing.
