I tried it again, and you are right the pc cursor did indeed move, but I'm
sure it didn't previously. I must be imagining things, Smile.

Well, most interesting. When I use the alt+up arrow the cursor does move as it does when I use the alt+down arrow. It moves to the first character of the sentence which was just read. I am using JAWS 7.0, XP Home and Microbloat Outlook. Cy, the ancient okie...

This is not the key strokes for say previous line or say next line, but it
is the closest I can find. alt + up arrow is say previous sentence, and alt
+ down arrow is say next sentence. In both cases the pc cursor does not move.

Can you use the invisible cursor? Then the answer is easy.

Belatedly, I understood that. Can anyone explain what the purpose of this
idea is? I wouldn't ordinarily care or think about something like this in
relation to anything I do every day on the computer. In what sort of
situation would this trick be necessary? I'm really mystified by this
apparent power-user thing. Thanks.

So far as I'm accustomed to doing, it's just either pres the up arrow key
on
the num pad (the 8) to read the line above where you are, or the down
arrow
key on the num pad (2) to read the line below.

Subject: reading prior or next line without moving pc cursor
Hi. My wife is taking a jaws test for a job. There are 2 questions that I
can not find the answers to. They both ask the key strokes to read the
prior line or next line without moving the pc cursor. I know of no key
stroke to do this without resorting to using the jaws cursor. Is there
such
a keystroke?
Many thanks phil
