Re: reading phone numbers with latest JAWS 9 update

Hi List,
I tried the latest JAWS 9 update today, that is, the fourth build of this version. I had reported last month that the first 2 builds of JAWS 9 read telephone numbers properly without having to use any special settings, but that the third build did not read them correctly.
Well, I have discovered that this fourth build of JAWS 9 also does not read them properly, so I am once again back to the second build. Furthermore, there is still no fix for the problem of JAWS not reporting the Copy and Cut commands after Windows Media Player 11 is launched, that is, until you unload and reload JAWS. It's too bad that fixing some problems seems to cause more problems that didn't exist before.

Hi Dennis,
The problem with that is that it affects all other numbers, not just telephone numbers. I just went back to the second build of JAWS 9 and the telephone numbers are read properly again.
I have a feeling that something changed with Eloquence with this latest build, although I called FS and they said nothing has been changed with Eloquence.

Hi, consider yourself lucky they read at all, just updated here and I can't read phone numbers from any websites. I just get the area code. I have to click on the number, which brings up a Skype Out box as I have it set up like that and then get the number from there. The number is there, but JAWS just says the area code, then a pause, then "On mouse over". Doesn't sound much like a phone number to me.
