And be default this is only in the 5.0.812 and 5.0.844 versions. You can only find these two options through the Change Synthesizer submenu in the JAWS window. You can't get to them from the insert+control+s synthesizer list. -- Grant Hardy <mailto:grant_hardy@xxxxxxxxx> -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Ronald Colombo Sent: August 4, 2004 10:50 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: putting a synthesizer in to the jfw imi folder or whatever it is Hi, There is no sap4 or sap5 detect item on my change synthesizer menu. I get Eloquence, Microsoft Text to Speech sapi5 and No Speech. Am I missing something? Press insert+j for the JAWS Window, go into language and change synthesizer and choose SAPI 4 detect. If your synthesizer isn't detected, go back to the Change Synthesizer and choose SAPI 5. If it is a SAPI 5 synthesizer, you'll see the voices for your synthesizer under the "person" combo box under the voices/global dialog. Now if it isn't sapi 4 or 5, it's a lot more tricky. Please excuse me if the below procedure seems complicated. Firstly you would need to have a JAWS-specific driver for your synthesizer. I'm guessing you don't. The file will have a .jls extension. If however you do have a .jls extension, do the following: Place the .jls file in the JAWS folder. In this example, let's say the file is called synth.jls and the JAWS folder is c:\jaws50. Now, you would load Notepad and open the c:\jaws50\jfw.ini file. The first section of the file should be the setup information. Past there you'll see the word: [Synthesizers] Arrow down from there. You'll see a few lines of information for each synthesizer. Supposing you are currently installed for two synthesizers, Eloquence and No Speech, go past the information for those synthesizers and press enter to create a blank line. Type: Synth3Name=synth Synth1LongName=Type your synthesizer's name here Synth1Driver=synth Replace the word synth in the first and last line of this text with the driver name for your synthesizer. Then alt+f4 out of the file, save changes and reload JAWS. If there isn't a .jls file for your synthesizer, contact the company that made it. Please let me know if you need further information. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Randy Tijerina Sent: August 3, 2004 08:26 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: putting a synthesizer in to the jfw imi folder or whatever it is hi bruce and all.
