Robert, What do you mean by "speak letters?" Is this something that adjusts Jaws's behavior in Say All mode, or while typing, or what? For instance, the only adjustment I know for determining whether Jaws will speak either letters or whole words is in the Insert num row 2 function, where you can cycle around from None, to characters to words, to characters and words. But for reading? Speak letters? Could you describe how this works, in practice? And of course, if I want to see how something's spelled or whether I've spelled it dcorrectly when typing, I just arrow back and forth, letter by letter, and hear the letters. What's the "speak letters" thing about? thanks. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert McCoy" <rmccoy@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, July 22, 2006 6:38 PM Subject: RE: punctuation isn't being spoken while typing Actually you can make jaws speak symbols and punctuation but not letters. Use the configuration manager (insert 6), go to keyboard settings, control tab once and down arrow to speak letters and uncheck this item. If you do this, letters will not be spoken but punctuation and symbols will be. Perhaps the symbol speak has been unchecked in this area, if so, punctuation will not be spoken.
