Are you sure you didn't go into key board manager and make some changes? Key board manager is insert 8 on the number. I wonder if you set a few things to mute or something. But it is always fun to do a repair on jaws.

Well that wasn't the answer either, guess I need to do a repair on Jaws then
redo my settings.

that's what it sounds like to me, too. like you had gone into the
configuration manager and changed your keyboard to none. there's nothing
else I can think of... because I don't think that you can make JAWS speak no
letter and only punctuation when you type... if that is possible, I've never
heard of it nor seen it. to fix this go into configuration manager
(insert-6) then do control-shift-d, because I'm not sure where you made
these changes, but let's be safe and change them back defaultly. then do
alt-s for set options, do enter on user options, and tab twice until you
hear "off radio button checked." then with your arrows change it to the
desired option.

hope this solves your problem.

Troy, This may not be what you want, but insert plus 2 on the top row gives you the option to have characters spoken which includes punctuation. This according to Jaws 6.

Subject: punctuation isn't being spoken while typing

Hi All,
I'm using Jaws 7.1 the latest update, and I went into configuration
manager
and turned off a bunch of the keys under keyboard so that they wouldn't
speak. Something I muted though has muted any punctuation marks when I
press them while typing, does anybody know what option in the
configuration
manager I have to reenable to get the punctuation marks to be spoken
again
while typing? I assume that it will be under keyboard but I'm not sure

because I made changes in other sections too.

Thanks.
Troy
