Dave, My message posted 48 hours after I sent it, as did a second I wrote on Saturday. I wasn't trying to resurrect our earlier discussion. Whatever FS's intent, I'd want my preferred voice to be invoked with the simpler command, which is surely insert-2. In my case, it is. But if FS had switched things around, I'd make my preferred voice the non-default just so that I could bring it up with that keystroke. The good news is that FS has made it easy to invoke two profiles via simple variants of the say all command. for those who like to use SAPI-5 voices to read long documents, it must be very convenient. _____ From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Farfar Carlson Sent: Monday, August 23, 2010 3:51 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: jaws, win 7, and outlook Adrian, Well, Then something is different on my setup, and I sure don't know where it crept in. You wrote: For most people, I'm guessing Eloquence is invoked without alt, while a SAPI-5 voice starts up with alt. For me, it's exactly the opposite. Insert+NumPad 2 gives me the Say All voice that I have set in the Default Configuration Say All Voice Aliases, which is SAPI 5. Alt+Insert+NumPad 2 gives me my default voice, which is Eloquence. Adding alt to this combination invokes so-called alternative say all, which kicks in your alternative synthesizer. For most people, I'm guessing Eloquence is invoked without alt, while a SAPI-5 voice starts up with alt. In my case, JAWS key-2 brings up Dectalk Express, which is my choice of synth, and adding alt replaces it with Eloquence. _____ From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Farfar Carlson Sent: Sunday, August 22, 2010 12:00 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: jaws, win 7, and outlook Bonnie, Seems to me that FS changed the default Say all keystroke in JAWS 11 or 10. Have you checked to make sure you're using the right combination? I use Alt+Insert+NumPadDownArrow. You might describe your problem a little more. My only problem now with Outlook 2010 is that the "say all" does not work, and I either have to arrow down through the message, or select it and then hit contl shift downarrow (I think that's it) to read an entire message.
