jaws not speaking quotations and apostrophe marks

I'm using Microsoft Word2003 and JFW6.2 for some unknown reason in Word only I
am unable to read the quotations or apostrophes. I don't know for sure whether
or not it was doing this when I first started using JFW6.2 a couple weeks ago.
Is there a way of resolving this issue or am I just one of many who has had
this problem? Thanks!!!
