It sounds like you have to always tab away from Jaws to go to an application.
You can avoid this by putting Jaws in your system tray and the command "run 
Jaws from system tray" which is what you need to check is, I believe found in 
Basics.

Well, For the most part it is working.  However, I keep getting the jaws
logo up on the screen.  Is there a way to avoid this?
