Well, like I said, it was a popular rumor on both JAWS lists when 7 first came out. It's possible someone meant Skype, which does not officially support 98, as there was also a discussion of Skype going on at the same time. Someone maybe misread and history was made. <GRIN>

I would concur though--you have nothing to lose by trying version 7.
Change the hot key on your older version or alternatively, give your new 
version a different hot key combo such as control alt 7.
As long as you have sufficient cpu memory and sufficient disk space--you've 
nothing to lose.
There are many handy new features in 7. If you experience problems as some 
have, simply go back to 5.

I don't know where this rumor about Windows 98 started, but it was floating around at the time of the release of JAWS 7. This rumor is not correct and can be safely discarded.
