This advice should not be generalized. Several versions of jaws can coexist quite happily on the same machine and the only restriction really is hard disk space.

if you are using more than one version, clean out all of the versions but the one you need the most, the most updated version should be the only version you have installed.

Subject: help needed with v5.1 and v6.0
hello list:
can anyone out there help me with a query i have with the versions of jaws that i have on my pc now? i have versions 5, 5.1 and 6 on my machine. i have version 5.1 how i want it with all my settings voices etc. as i want them but now with a new version 6 is there an easy way of getting my settings from 5.1 to work in version 6? i have also noticed in the past weeks/months that there are a lot of unhappy people with version 6 - is there any things in version 6 that i should know about and if so where can i obtain this information from? i currently am still using v5.1 and will do until i am sure exactly what i am doing or rather what i am supposed to be doing with version 6. all help appreciated. thankyou in anticipation. stephen
