Hello Judith: When you have finished editing Chapter 1, for example, you then want to save the file, If you press <CTRL+S>, Word will not prompt you with a confirmation as to whether you want to replace Chapter 1 if there is a file with that name already exists. The program will go ahead and overwrite the previous version of the file with the new version. If Chapter 1 did not exist, then Word opens the "Save As" dialog and the cursor is placed in the edit field where you type the name of the file. However, if you press <ALT+F>, followed by the letter <a>, which is the keyboard sequence that opens the "Save As" dialog and you press <ENTER> to accept the file name that is in the "enter file name" edit field, Word, or any program will prompt you as to whether you want to overwrite a file that already exists.
