extracting sound from video

Using Jaws 10, with Vista Ultimate,
which program can Jaws use to extract a sound tract to MP3 format,
from a video recording, which was created in Media Center?
Right now, every 30 minutes of recording uses 2 GB of memory.
I do not wish to keep the video, just the sound.
OR
Is there a program that can shrink to whole 30 minute recording to keep both
video and sound?
